WALKING WITH GOD

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY

Announcements

*Opening Hymn                        “God of the Ages”                                                                        Hymn 698

                                                                                                                                                    All Verses

* Responsive Reading               Psalm 24

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,

The world and those who dwell therein;

For God has founded it upon the seas,

And established it upon the rivers.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?

And who shall stand in God’s holy place?

Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,

Who do not lift up their souls to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully.

They will receive blessing from the Lord,

And vindication from the God of their salvation.

Such is the generation of those who seek the Lord,

Who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors! That the Ruler of glory may come in.

Who is the Ruler of glory?

The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle!

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors! That the Ruler of glory may come in.

Who is this Ruler of glory?

The Lord of hosts, the Lord is the Ruler of glory!

* Responsive Reading       Psalm 124

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side – Let Israel now say –

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when foes rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us:

Then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

Then the raging waters would have gone over us.

Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

We have escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;

The snare is broken, and we have escaped!

Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.

* Responsive Reading                Psalm 138

I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise;

I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and faithfulness;

For you have exalted your name and your word above everything.

On the day I called you answered me, you strengthened my life.

All the rulers of the earth shall praise you, O Lord,

For they have heard the words of your mouth;

And they shall sing of the ways of the Lord,

For great is the glory of the Lord.

For the Lord is high, but regards the lowly;

Yet knows the haughty from afar.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life;

You stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies and your right hand delivers me.

O Lord, fulfill your purpose for me;

O Lord, may your steadfast love endure forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

* Responsive Reading                 Psalm 16

Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”

As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble, in whom is all my delight.

Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows;

Their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips.

The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.

The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a glorious heritage.

I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; even at night my heart instructs me.

I have set the Lord always before me; the Lord is at my right hand; I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure.

For you do not give me up to Sheol or let you godly one see the pit.

You show me the path of life;

In your presence there is fullness of joy, in your right hand are pleasures for evermore.

* Responsive Reading                Psalm 118:14-24

The Lord is my strength and my power; the Lord has become my salvation.

There are joyous songs of victory in the tents of the righteous:

“The right hand of the Lord does valiantly, the right hand of the Lord is exalted,

The right hand of the Lord does valiantly!”

I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

The Lord has chastened me sorely, but has not given me over to death.

Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.

This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.

I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.

The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
