* Responsive Reading                 Psalm 18:1-6

I Love you, O Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,

My God, my rock in whom I take refuge,

My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,

So I shall be saved from my enemies.

The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of perdition assailed me;

The cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help.

From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.

* Reading                                 Psalm 84:5-12

Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

As they go through the valley of tears, they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.

They go from strength to strength; the God of gods will be seen in Zion.

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Behold our shield, O God; look upon the face of your anointed!

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield, and bestows favor and honor.

No good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed are those who trust in you!

* Responsive Reading         Psalm 9:9-20

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion. Declare his deeds among the peoples.

For he who avenges blood is mindful of them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

Be gracious to me, O Lord. See what I suffer from those who hate me; you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death,

So that I may recount all your praises, and, in the gates of Zion, rejoice in your deliverance.

The nations have sunk in the pit that they made;

In the net that they hid has their own foot been caught.

The Lord has made himself known, he has executed judgment;

The wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.

The wicked shall depart to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

For the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor perish forever.

Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail; let the nations be judged before you.

Put them in fear, O Lord; let the nations know that they are only human.

* Responsive Reading               Psalm 33:9-22

For the Lord spoke, and it came to be; the Lord commanded, and it stood forth.

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing and frustrates the plans of the peoples.

The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of God’s heart to all generations.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom the Lord has chosen as a heritage!

The Lord looks down from heaven, and sees all peoples;

The Lord sits enthroned and looks forth on all the inhabitants of the earth, fashioning the hearts of them all, and observing all their deeds.

A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.

The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and despite its great might in cannot save.

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who are faithful and hope for God’s steadfast love to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and shield.

Our heart is glad in the Lord, because we trust in God’s holy name.

Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

The right hand of the Lord does valiantly, the right hand of the Lord is exalted,

The right hand of the Lord does valiantly!

I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore, we will not fear though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;

Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

God is in the midst of the city which shall not be moved; God will help it at the dawn of the day.

The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; God’s voice resounds, the earth melts.

“Be still, and know that I Am God. I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth!”

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

* Responsive Reading                Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18

O Lord, you have searched me and known me!

You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.

You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it altogether.

You pursue me behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.

For it was you who formed my inward parts,

You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you, for you are fearful and wonderful.

Wonderful are your works!

You know me very well;

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes beheld my unformed substance;

In your book were written the days that were formed for me, every day, before they came into being.

How profound to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

If I would count them, they are more than the sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

Lord’s Prayer

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.”  Amen
