WELCOME TO WORSHIP

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*Opening Song:  “Come, Christians, Join to Sing”   Hymnal #158

*Hymn:             “Rejoice, the Lord Is King”      Hymnal #715

*Responsive Reading       Psalm 2

Why do the nations conspire, and the people plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers take counsel together against God and God’s anointed, saying,

“Let us burst their bonds, and cast their cords from us.”

The One who sits in the heavens laughs, and holds them in anger, and terrify them in fury, saying,

“I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.”

I will tell of the decree of the Lord who said to me: “You are my son, today I have begotten you.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.

Serve the Lord with fear and trembling;

Humble yourselves before the Lord lest God be angry, and you perish in the way; for God’s wrath is quickly kindled.

Blessed are all who take refuge in the Lord.

Morning Prayer:

Lord’s Prayer

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! Lord, hear my voice!

Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?

But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be worshiped.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, in the Lord’s word I hope;

My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, with the Lord is plenteous redemption.

And the Lord will redeem Israel from all iniquities.

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord;

WELCOME TO WORSHIP

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*Opening Song:    “Come, Thou Almighty King”      Hymnal #61

*Sing Again:         “How Firm A Foundation”       Hymnal #529

*Responsive Reading       Psalm 9:9-20

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lod, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion!

Tell among the peoples God’s deeds!

The Lord who avenges blood is mindful of them,

And does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

Be gracious to me, O Lord! See what I suffer from those who hate me;

You are the One who lifts me up from the gates of death, that I may recount all your praises, and, in the gates of the daughter of Zion, rejoice in your deliverance.

The nations have sunk in the pit which they made;

Their own foot has been caught in the net which they hid.

The Lord is made known! The Lord has executed judgment!

The wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.

The wicked shall depart to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish for ever.

Arise, O Lord! Let not mortals prevail; let the nations be judged before you!

Put them to fear, O Lord; let the nations know that they are mortal!

WELCOME TO WORSHIP

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*Opening Song:  “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”  Hymnal #139

*Sing Again:   “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty”  Hymnal #64

*Responsive Reading        Psalm 42

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so longs my soul for you, O God.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?

My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me continually, “Where is your God?”

These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I went with the throng, and led them in procession to the house of God, with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me?

Hope in God whom again I shall praise, my help and my God.

My soul is cast down within me, therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

Deep calls to deep at the thunder of your cataracts; all your waves and your billows have gone over me.

By day the Lord commands his steadfast love; and at night God’s song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

I say to God, my rock: “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I mourn because of the oppression of the enemy?”

Like a deadly wound n my body, my adversaries taunt me;

They say to me continually, “Where is your God?”

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me?

Hope in God whom again I shall praise, my help and my God.

Morning Prayer:

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*Opening Song:         “My Hope Is Built”          Hymnal #368

*Sing Again:        “Rejoice, The Lord Is King”      Hymnal #715

*Responsive Reading        Psalm 92

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;

To declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night,

To the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.

For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep!

The dull ones cannot know, the foolish cannot understand this:

Though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever, but you, O Lord, are on high forever.

For your enemies, O Lord, for your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.

But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil.

My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies, my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

The righteous flourish like the palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

They are planted in the house of the Lord, they flourish in the courts of our God.

They still bring forth fruit in old age, they are ever full of sap and green to show that the Lord is upright.

The Lord is my rock, in whom there is no unrighteousness.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;
